Antipolo Cathedral

For those who are looking for a nice place to stay in Antipolo whether you are in a tight budget or not, you might consider this place in Antipolo.

A trip to Antipolo will not be completed without visiting the well known Cathedral of the city.
The Pilgrimage capital of the country.

Cathedral is probably well known as the shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje or Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage who is also the Patroness of Antipolo.

Did you know that the church was supposed to be built on a different location?
It was originally built to enshrine the miraculous image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage
(an image originated from Mexico)
but instead of settling on a different location, they have chosen to establish the church on the site where the Tipolo tree is located.
They said that the miraculous image was found under this tree after vanishing several times from the shrine.

A Must Visit Famous Destinations In Bicol

By: Shiena Mae A. Paler

The Bicol Region or Region V, also known as Bicolandia, is one of the 17 regions of the Philippines. Bicol (also spelled Bikol) is composed of four provinces in the Bicol Peninsula, the southeastern end of Luzon Island, and two island-provinces adjacent to the peninsula. Its regional center is Legazpi City in Albay province.

If you’re someone looking for great adventure and breathtaking, magical locations, it might surprise you to know there are quite a number of places you can easily drive to and be blown away by…in Bicol.

Yes. Bicol.

Bicol Region is steeped in rich culture and beauty, and whether it’s a beach, a waterfall, or a church, everything about it is beautiful.

Owing to its location, Region V offers plenty of choices for visitors – beautiful natural features like beaches, mountains and waterfalls with lush vegetation; activities could include scuba diving to wrecked galleons, spelunking, mountaineering; or visits to man-made attractions like church architecture from the Spanish Colonial Period; etc.

Here’s the Top 5 Must Visit Attractions In Bicol

Mayon Volcano in Legazpi City

Take remarkable photographs of Mayon Volcano and experience the raw scenic beauty that surrounds it. Known for its perfectly symmetrical cone shape, the closely monitored active stratovolcano rises 2,463 m (8,081 ft) with hardened layers of pyroclastic and lava flows from past eruptions.

A progressive city by the bay with the Philippines’ most active volcano and the world’s most perfect cone on the backdrop is Legazpi City.

Matukad Island in Caramoan, Camarines Sur

Matukad is one of the smaller islands off the coast of the Caramoan peninsula. Like many islands in the area, its beaches and surrounding waters are freckled with towering limestone cliffs. But they are not even its biggest selling point. What many visitors love about Matukad Island is its fine, fine sand that can definitely give Boracay a run for its tourist money.

This lake at matukad island where milk fish are. No one dares to catch it since it’s a common belief in the area of its mythical guardian or something like it till that boatman caught one. They say as well that they rarely show to humans and it’s a privileged or blessed rather to see them.   (Matukad Story)

Among the extensive and majestic coastline and numerous wondrous islands, Lahos Island still stands out like a rare pearl in Caramoan. A journey to Caramoan Island will never be complete if you don’t get the chance to visit Lahos. It is said that it is named as such because its white sandy beach disappears with the high tide, the word “laho” in the vernacular, or “disappear” or “vanish” in English.

Even by looking at the map, it’s easy to tell that Lahos Island is quite a beauty. Its main beach is spread across the island, reaching both the eastern and western sides, while sandwiched by massive rock formations to the north and south. Lahos Island is part of the Caramoan National Park, making it a protected area.

Lahos Island boasts of spectacular stretches of white sand beaches amongst striking and unique rock formations that partition areas of the island.  Lush vegetation can be seen of various parts of the island.  The aquamarine waters around the island are picturesque and ideal for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. Many tourists stop over at Lahos Island during their island hopping at Caramoan.

TOURIST DESTINATION IN ILOCOS

Vigan

Unlike other travel destinations that are made popular by their landmarks and tourist attractions, Vigan is in itself the attraction. It is a historic town that has managed to preserve the planned Spanish colonial town, particularly in Calle Crisologo, garnering the prestigious recognition of being part of the UNESCO’s Heritage List. Here, you will find period houses, ancestral homes and cobble-stoned streets. With the addition of kalesas, a Filipino version of a horse-drawn carriage, Vigan can transport you back in time.

Bantay Belfry

More than just a bell tower, the Bantay Belfy sits on top a hill that offers a panoramic view of the entire Ilocos Sur. Climb the top and you’ll know why people want to visit the province. The belfry also has historical significance, because it was used as a watchtower for pirates during the Spanish colonial era.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

If Bantay Belfry shows you the whole of Ilocos Sur, Cape Bojeador will give you an unobstructed view of the South China Sea. It is, after all, known as the tallest lighthouse in the Philippines that sits on top of a hill. So, there’s very little doubt that it’s overlooking the South China Sea.

Blue Lagoon

if you finding some destination in ilocos , this are the top 5 tourist spots 🙂

THEIR BARROWED TIME TO WALK

BY: Cristelle Anne De Asis

We live within barrowed time and walk in rented shoes. if we fade we fade. but let us go out having loved, laughed and forgiven.
Pursue some path, however narrow and crooked, in which you can wake with love
and reverence.
We sit on barrowed time and walk like we own the entire universe.

For my part i travel not to go anywhere, but to go. i travel for travels sake.

Bountiful Tourist Attraction In Sorsogon

BY: CRISTELLE ANNE DE ASIS

TIKLING ISLAND SORSOGON

This is one of the islands that have been newly introduced to the public, which means parts of it are still pristine and untouched. A notable feature of Tikling Island is its pinkish powdery sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. Because the beach is still clear of luxury resorts and nipa cottages, you get an unobstructed view of the shore. In fact, you’ll see the view of Tikling Island even while aboard a ferry going to Samar, another island in the Visayas.

If you wish to enjoy peace and quiet, this is where you should be heading. The only inhabitants you’ll find on the island are its caretakers.

The name of this island comes from a kind of bird which is also named Tikling. These birds abound on the island. But the one that is noticeable once we arrived is its pinking white sand. It’s something different from the usual white sand beach that we all love.

BARCELONA CHURCH RUINS

It was time to learn more of our history by visiting the church and ruins of Barcelona, Sorsogon.

If you are not that familiar with the province, I bet you’ll be surprised to know that not only Spain has Barcelona.Philippines also has one.

Barcelona Ruins is the first site I noticed when I got out of the van. After talking to some Tourism Officers there, they told me that  the early settlers of Barcelona are the tribal communities of Danlog which were mostly hunters and fishermen.

BARCELONA CHURCH RUINS

In the early 1800’s Spaniards arrived and claimed the entire community. They later named the place “Barcelona” in honor of then Capital town of Spain which is Cataluna.

They later constructed the church which is just across the Ruins Park, they call it St. Joseph Church which is now popularly known as Barcelona Church.

PAGURIAN ISLAND AND LAGOON (THE HIDDEN CHARM OF SORSOGO)

Located in Barangay Sawanga in Bacon District, Sorsogon City. At first I thought that this is a town where we could find a lot these mouth-watering breakfast dish that we all love. Or where the Bacon Festival is held.

The lagoon inside the rocky island was a sight to behold. Surrounded by rocks, the clear water was even more dramatic with the waves breaking through the rocks then into the lagoon.

BUHATAN RIVER ECO ADVENTURE

This was the highlight of the Sorsogon leg of our annual vacation… This newly launched yet unforgettable river cruise should make it not just on your Bicol itinerary, but your bucket list as well…

You might think what would make a river cruise so special? If the clear, calm waters of the Buhatan river, the fresh air, and the promise of a seafood feast doesn’t pique your interest immediately, think about a peaceful bamboo raft ride at night surrounded by thousands of fireflies lighting the way… That is the draw…

MT.BULUSAN NATIONAL PARK

LEGAZPI CITY (PIA) – The Bulusan Natural Park in Sorsogon province is set to reopen its tourist area to accommodate visitors, over a year after preventing access to it due to the eruption of Mt. Bulusan in June last year.

Benjamin Santiago, director of the Department of Tourism (DoT) for Bicol region, said the reopening of the park’s tourist area followed the move of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) this week to lower the alert level on Bulusan Volcano from 1 (abnormal) to zero (normal).

Santiago said trekking, hiking, and water paddling on the Lake Bulusan will be reopened as Phivolcs has noted a general decline in volcanic activities.

Lake Bulusan, the main attraction inside the 3,672-hectare park, is a developed tourist site with a trail around its 2-kilometer circumference and boating facilities on its 33-meter deep waters.

Previously the popular site had been closed following Mt. Bulusan’s steam-driven eruption on June 5 last year.

In its latest bulletin, Phivolcs said since last June, Bulusan’s upper slope has deflated and the occurrence of volcanic earthquakes has declined, signs that it was safe again to carry out human activities in the park’s tourist area.

With the reopening of the park, visitors to the tourist site will be able to marvel at the mountain’s peak, which stands at 1,559 meters above sea level with a base of area of about 400 square kilometers.
